Monday and Tuesday in class we:
Discussed the metabolic pathways of glycolysis, Kreb cycle, and the electron transport chain.
We also discussed the alternative pathway of alcoholic and lactic acid fermentation
Homework due Thursday:
Artistic drawing of the relationship between photosynthesis and cellular respiration. This creative endeavor should include:
1. The organelles involved in each process
2. The chemical equations for each process
3. The products of each process and how they connect the two pathways
4. A description of each process and their connections.
For Thursday:
We will be trying our root beer and reviewing the unit
All fermentation extra credit is due in class on Thursday

Guest Speaker Joyce Trombeta
Today we had the pleasure of having Joyce Trombeta join our class today to speak on her doctoral research regarding organ donation. Please look for the consent form to come in the mail, fill it out, and return it via the posted envelope to participate in her survey. Support a fellow scientist in their research!

Prepare a food dish where fermentation is involved to share with the class. Some suggestions include home baked bread, yogurt, cheese, kimchi, sauerkraut, etc.
For your extra credit you must:
- Bring in your food item for the class to sample on Thursday
- Include the recipe for your food item
- Include a one page typed paper explaining the history of your food, and the science behind your food (what organisms are doing the fermenting, what are the products of the fermentation, what observations did you make which preparing your food)
